Analytic theory offers new ways of thinking that help clinicians to understand unconscious aspects of the therapeutic dynamics and work through impasse. Supervision can be a key integrative experience in candidate education, weaving together theory and personal training analysis. The supervisory relationship offers candidates as well as experienced clinicians a forum in which to explore their evolving understanding of their work and to develop their professional approach.
